Annotated Bibliography

Books sources:

Gunter, Barrie. Violence on television: distribution, form, context, and themes. Mahwah, N.J.: L. Erlbaum Associates, 2003.
Barrie Gunter focuses in his book on VIOLNCE on TV. He divided his book into different chapters and one of the chapters is talking specifically about children and violence on television. This’s including things like violence on programs involving children and how it affects them. Also he mentions the amount of violence in television in United States. In addition to all of that he mention that tv violence has a strong related crimes in a society.
Evaluation: this book is a creditable source for some reasons. First the author is a professor who has an interest in researching on TV impact in general for a long time. He has spent a lot of time on researching for many years. Second, this book was based on a deep research by a team of researchers who spent years doing their research. Finally, this is a great source because it contains a lot of facts that are related to my narrowed topic.
(2) Children and media violence: yearbook from the UNESCO International Clearinghouse on Children and Violence on the Screen. Goteborg: The UNESCO International Clearinghouse on Children and Violence on the Screen, 1998.

This book was published by the UNESCO international clearinghouse on children and violence on the screen nordicom. This book focused on many things in the media and one of the things is television violence and children. They gave some background information about children and television violence in the United States and some facts in the introduction, and then talked about a study made by the NTVS national television violence. In addition the book provided a research on the influences of television violence. Also this provided an article about we do we watch television violence.
Evolution; this book is an excellent source because it was published by one of the most important organizations in world which is UNESCO specialized agency of the UN. Also Children and the media violence book is good source because it presented the subject in different ways by different authors. In fact this source has a lot of interesting things that would help me development my research.

This article is about a study made by the national television violence. This study was to see if TV violence exists and if it does in which amount. The study monitored programs from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days of the week, yielding about 119 hours per channel. Some 2,500 hours of programming were examined, including 2,693 programs; 384 of these were reality-based shows. Furthermore this article contains results which were based on monitored programs. Also it gave some tips or recommendations to televisions industry, and parents.
Evaluation: this article is a good source because it gives some information about a study made by a special organization. Also it’s an interesting source because it has mentioned something about TV industry and most what I found has related things with the victims who are the kids.

(2)Laura Outerbridge. “TV's lesson: kick first; talk later - TV violence and children”. Insight on the News. March 25, 1996.

This article by Laura Outerbridge talked about the worried about violent TV programs on children by parents. In her article she expresses the parents concern on the effect of violent TV programs in life where she divided it to short term effect and long term effect. In addition she comments on some solutions that has not solved the problem completely. In the end she gives some new solutions that might help to make children believe that violence is the right thing to get what they want.

Evaluation

This article which, was written by Laura Outerbridge is a great source for many reasons. First, in her article she talked about how parents feel about their children watching TV violence and their point of view. Second, this provided information about long term effect which couldn’t find before. Finally, she discussed what psychologists are thinking about TV effect on children which would help me in talking about the health of children and TV violence effect on it.

In this article which was written by Suzanne Fields, she talked about violence as kinds and she classified them to different parts. Then she mentions that violence gain new way and it effect on men, women, and children could be stronger. In addition to that she talked about the major TV network and how they promised to do their best to notice parents about programs that contain violent and to put notice in newspapers and magazines so parents could avoid their children to watch theses programs
Evaluation: this source is credible source because the author is an experience person who has a PhD and well known writer in some of the biggest newspaper in the United States. Also this article is a perfect article that can be used in any academic purposes. It is an interesting source because it focused on things that related to my narrowed research topic.

This website content information which’s include facts about children and how they get affected, statistics on children, and point of view of the health on TV affect on children. Also this website analyzed TV where the writer called TV as a world of good and bad which mean that TV is not bad at all. However, it contain such bad things and that what people against TV are trying to clean up .The thing that I liked in this website is amount of information

Evaluation:

It is creditable website because it was written by an author who seems to have knowledge on the topic. Also he has a well informed website with as much as you want from information supported by studies and opinions from people with knowledge about the subject. Also I found in his website a radio where you can listen to talk show with more than 30 topics related to TV violence.

This website provides a research by author Kevin Szaflik. In his website he addressed his main ideas in five things. First he talked about the effect and here he mention that the most notable effect is going to be on kids behavior and their aggressiveness. Second, he named television as a babysitter where children learn behavior from as a replacement to quality time with parents. Third, he discussed why is three violence in television, fourth, The V Chip is a way to preventing from viewing violence. The V chip is a device that can block transmission of violent programs into homes. Finally, he gave another solution which is TV rating system.

Evaluation

This website is a good source because it was written by in academic person who wrote it with well format. Also this website has some information that match with my ideas. In addition to that this website has many helpful things.

This book which was written by Maurine Doerken is focusing mainly on how television influence on young people’s learning. It covers what children learn from television, how they learn, and how it effects their development education. In addition to that the author covered topics like how TV affects brain, and emotional and psychological growth of children.

This book is credible source because it has the point of view from education person about TV and how it affects children. The author of this book is a teacher, she spent a lot of time watching young students behavior and learning abilities and how related to watching television. This source is related to my research question in the way of giving reasons why children should be protected from watching TV. In addition this source is an interesting one because it provided some information about young students learning abilities.

Television Violence and other Violence in the media. Anthony Simonetti.

This video was created by Anthony Simonetti. in his video at firs, he show a speech was given by Hilary Clinton, she talked about violence in media and how better parents should be to protect their children and also she mentioned that we should find new way rather than old ways of solution and to go beyond theses things. Furthermore he showed a part of a TV show talk and how some people in the media are trying to fight against people who are fighting to protect children. Then he talked about what should the government and also the parents.

Evolution: this source is a credible source because what in this video some speeches are from people with a high position in their life. Also he brought things that were broadcasting on TV cable. Also this video will help me because it gives a lot of question mark that would make think to answer them which means more knowledge for me.
